"Anam Cara Cellars
is a rising star"
in their December 2007 issue
Decanter gave a coveted four star rating to the Anam Cara Estate Pinot noir 05, The wine was singled out as one of only five "Fine Values" in Oregon Pinot noir.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. One of the best surprises of the 2005 vintage. Sun-ripened blackberries and milk chocolate aromas are the gateway to a silky, creamy, elegant dark berry and plum core that sweetens perfectly as the finish unfolds.
Anam Cara's Estate Pinot Noir is an elegant, full bodied wine with soft tannins. On the nose there are hazelnuts, milk chocolate and warm black fruits. The palate shows ripe plum and black raspberry tones and the same interesting minerality as previous vintages which would indicate a unique characteristic of this young vineyard. 11 months in French oak barrels (25% new). - Avalon tasting notes

Anam Cara Estate Reserve Pinot noir 05 $41.95/$37.76
Pretty dark cherry and cinnamon stick is just the beginning: juicy, lush, ideally ripe fruit sweetens on the palate, with layers of dark cherry, blackberry, and plum fanning outward. Hints of graham and woodspice pick up as the finish rolls on. - Avalon tasting notes:
Burghound, a prestigious online newsletter, reviewed the Estate Reserve: "A pretty nose of deeply pitched dark cherry with a background hint of plum is trimmed in discreet if not invisible oak that merges into rich, full, sweet and concentrated flavors that possess good focus and reasonably good detail as well on the sappy and persistent finish where the wood resurfaces just enough to slightly sweeten the finish where there is also a subtle trace of warmth. This is delicious and fairly forward so it could be approached now with pleasure or cellared for a year or two." Burghound.com, October 2007. Comments by Allen Meadows.

Boedecker "Stewart" Pinot noir 05 $33.95/$30.56
Our favorite of the Boedecker Cellars bottlings two years in a row! Generous, juicy cherry and ripe raspberry that keeps on giving. Succulent and sweet, yet balanced with vibrant acidity. Earth and brambles note notes pick up on the finish, while the pure fruit persists. A blend of Anderson Family, Cherry Grove, Maresh, and Stoller Vineyards. -- Avalon Tasting Notes
Rich with notes of strawberries and cherries, and balanced by lithe acidity and a touch of toast, caramel & brambles. - The Winery

Boedecker "Athena" Pinot noir 05 $33.95/$30.56
The Athena showcases the bigger, darker side of Boedecker Cellars Pinots. A little shy upfront, with toasty baking spice and cola hints moving to dark, dried cherries and blackberries. Appealing nuances of tea and cocoa appear on the lengthy finish with more prominent tannins. Based on our experience with the 2004, we expect the Athena will develop nicely over the next several months. - Avalon Tasting Notes
Huge fruit up front wrapped around chocolate tones on a dark, juicy frame of sweet vanilla, cola, and candied cherries. - The Winery
