Anam Cara Cellars "Heather's Vineyard" Pinot noir 06
93 points: PinotReport Medium-deep ruby color; deep aromas of roses, dark cherry, herbs and pepper; with sweet oak, good structure and balance; long finish. Very aromatic and complex Pinot
90 points: Wine Advocate: The nose features earth notes, mocha and black cherry. On the palate the wine is smooth textured, medium to full-bodied, ripe and savory. Nicely balanced
90 points: Wine Enthusiast Expresses its individuality with precision and spot-on balance. Suggests an increasingly rare honesty and lack of manipulation. Flavors are there, the balance is there, and most importantly, the elegance is there.
90 points International Wine Review Velvety smooth palate of black and red fruit. A lovely, nicely balanced wine.
AOL Slashfood Wine of the Week. Very fruit-forward, there is a hint of pepper throughout and a complex nose of pressed roses, violets and cherry blossoms. A refined wine with cherry and raspberry notes and a distinct aroma of lavender.
From the winery:
Located on a southeast facing slope between the towns of Sherwood and Newberg in Oregon's northern Willamette Valley, our vineyard comprises 28 acres of Pinot noir, one acre of Riesling and one acre of Gwertzraminer. The first two blocks of Pinot noir, the Pommard and 667 clones were planted in 2000.
During the day we work in the vineyard, Nick as "tractor-man" and Sheila supervises. Our vineyard manager, Buddy Beck, keeps an eye on our progress, and winemaker Aron Hess guides us through the wonderful art of winemaking.
