Review:
Ruby red in color with aromas of black fruit, spices, and dark chocolate and flavors of dark berry. The blend for this vintage is 51% Mourvedre, 31% Grenache, and 18% Syrah.

The blend for the 08 yielded a wine with aromas of currants, flowers, wild herbs and pepper. Flavors of violet, berries and pepper, more red fruit than black. The finish is tannic, but balanced with good length.

With this, the sixth vintage of the Coup, we continue to “épater le merloisie.” Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah (60, 25, and 15 percent) are once again comrades in arms, fighting the good fight against the Cab-Chard hegemony. - the winery
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
Andrew Rich Coup d' Etat 06 shows off Andrew's love of, and skill with, Rhone varietal blends. An expansive aroma of black plum and black cherry complements sweet red and black cherry flavors, black raspberry, and black plum. There's that characteristic Rhone wine sense of olive brine and grilled herbs.
The finish offers white pepper, cherry/plum and lots of minerals. Both complex and fun to drink, Andrew really shows his stuff with this beautifully crafted great value.
