Andrew Rich Pinot noir "Cuvee B" 08
See all in-stock Oregon 2008 vintage Pinot noirs
With its darker color and deep aromas of graphite, crushed red and black berries, and a hint of wild herbs, the Cuvée announces itself as a wine that is altogether more “serious” than the Prelude. (And for those who have been following this wine for the last 10 vintages, it should be noted that with this vintage the B has been promoted: it is no longer our “entry-level” Pinot, though in order to attain an elevated rank it was necessary to bottle much less than previously—about one-half of normal.)
In the mouth the wine seems more savory than overtly fruity, with a round, sweet, rich mid-palate. It is full and lush with any excess weight (a hallmark of 2008). There is excellent length here, with well-integrated tannins and vibrant acidity to keep the wine focused and fresh. Delicious now, this will go five years at least.
Previous Vintage Tasting Notes
Welcoming aromas of raspberry and strawberry, which signal the rich flavors to come. Crushed raspberry and spicy red currant mix with sweet roses on a silky smooth frame. There's a juiciness that lifts through the finish, bringing a smile to your face when you realize the bottle is only $24! As always, the Andrew Rich Cuvee B is one of the standout values in Oregon Pinot noir.
Previous Vintage Tasting Notes The 2005 Willamette Valley Pinot noir- is drinking quite well, an additional year of aging since release has settle and extended the flavors. It's silky and complexly flavored, with blackberry and an enticing hint of roses and spice on the finish.
2005 Cuvee B Tasting Notes
Catch it while you can. The "Cuvee B" sells out more rapidly with each vintage. Andrew makes excellent wines, regardless of the varietal but my favorite wines are his Pinots. Creamy cherry and dark berry flavors are complemented by subtle aromas of dried flowers, herbs, smoke and minerals. Perfectly integrated and yummy! ANDREW HAS THIS TO SAY: "The softer, more "fruit-driven" Pinot bottling, the 2005 Cuv?e B comprises vineyards in the Chehalem, Yamhill-Carlton, Dundee Hills, and McMinnville AVAs. Though not a big wine, the entry and mid-palate are plush, and the finish is moderately long, with a nice balance of both red and black fruit aromas and flavors, as well as an intriguing earthy note. Serve it early and often."
