Review:
Pinot noir from Dewey and Robin Kelly's Ribbon Ridge Vineyard near the estate vineyards of Beaux Freres and Patricia Green in Oregon's Ribbon Ridge Appellation. Only 62 cases made.
Andrew Rich's 2008 Ribbon Ridge combines a classic vintage, perfect fruit, and the attention to detail that comes when each of the few barrels made are hand crafted.
I lingered over the enticing scent of blackberry, raspberry, rose petal and spice box before tasting this rich, forward 2008 Pinot. A satin texture, loads of succulent sweet berry fruit, violets, spice and a touch of meadow herbs keep going in a long berry fruit finish. Silky tannins balance and add structure for aging. An exemplar of Ribbon Ridge's terroir with hints of meadow herbs, red earth, dusty berries and wild roses so intensely sensed in the vineyard. - Jean
