Review:

New!

The 09 is a soft and supple wine with great acidity, hints of dark fruit and herbal and citrus flavors on the palate. The perfume-based bouquet lends sophistication to the wine's complexity.

38% Merlot, 31% Cabernet Franc, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon

2009 Wine Spectator - 92 points - Fresh and vibrant, with polished tannins around a lively core of sage and chocolate accented raspberry and currant flavors, remaining deft and inviting as the flavors linger. Drink now through 2019. - H.S.

2009 Tanzer - 92 points - Good medium red. Red berries and plum on the very ripe nose. Sweet and sappy in the mouth, with good energy to its intense flavors of crushed raspberry and cranberry. Finishes with suave, sweet tannins and lingering spice character. The pHs in 2009 are on the high side, noted Camarda, but I find this to be a very successful vintage for this bottling. - J.R.

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

2008 Wine Spectator - 91 points - Lithe and silky, showing sweet plum and spice flavors at the core, with hints of oolong tea and cream tingeing the finish. This has elegance and charm. Drink now through 2018. - H.S.

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

The Two Blondes Red is blended from grapes grown in the Angle Block region of the vineyard. These vines are gaining strength with each passing year and the flavor of this sophisticated fruit is evident in the Two Blondes Red.

2007 Wine Enthusiast - 94 points

2006 Vintage Tasting Notes

Andrew Will's two Blondes Vineyard Red 06 has an appealing aroma of fragrant wild berries, which signals the deliciousness to come. Harmonious, rich black raspberry, juicy cherry, and dark currant offer a mouthful of sweet fruit. Spicy herbs and leather accent the finish. The 06 Two Blondes is irresistable on day two, so plan to decant for an hour or cellar for 2-4 years. The 2006 Two Blondes Vineyard continues to offer better fruit and more complexity with each vintage.

2006 Wine Advocate - 92+ points - The 2006 Two Blondes Vineyard is sourced from a vineyard in Yakima Valley owned by Camarda. It is a blend of 43% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 28% Merlot. It offers up aromas of balsam wood, cinnamon, sage, incense, black cherry, and black currant. This is followed by supple, ripe wine with fine-grained tannins, savory flavors, and excellent balance. Dense and concentrated, it will continue to blossom with another 2-3 years of bottle age and offer a drinking window extending from 2011 to 2023. - Jay Miller

The SF Chronicle's Jon Bonne on 2006 Andrew Will Two Blondes Vineyard Yakima Valley Red Wine: "The young vines in Chris Camarda's estate vineyard yield racy, aromatic wines. This new vintage, 43 percent Cabernet Franc plus Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, is no different. Distinct Franc presence on the nose: Tea, leather, ancho chile and flower-tinged berries play the high notes, subtle oak and cassis play the low. Bright, focused and spicy." - Jon Bonne

2005 Vintage Tasting Notes

Vibrant, concentrated fruity scents of sweet blueberries and black currants. There's a big, delicious dollop of raspberry/blueberry cream pie that pulls you in. The forward fruit makes the 05 Two Blondes accessible, while the underlying structure becomes apparent with air. Earth, clove, subtle peppercorn and chocolate notes round out the finish.

2005 Wine Advocate - 92 points - The 2005 Two Blondes, located a stone's throw from the Sheridan Vineyard, is a blend of 36% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 29% Merlot. Its personality is remarkably similar to its sister vineyard with expressive red and black fruit aromas, spice box, and smooth-textured, sweet fruit. It is a lengthy, elegant effort for drinking from 2012 to 2025.

2004 Vintage Tasting Notes

Two Blondes, Chris Camarda's estate vineyard in Yakima Valley, continues to show tremendous promise. The 04 is easily the best bottling so far.

Alluring aromas of ripe plums, dark cherries, and smoky bacon float from the glass. Deliciously concentrated, rich, dark fresh and dried cherries, plum and cassis flavors envelope the palate and carry through the finish Like the Sorella, the Two Blondes is lush and luxuriant but with perfectly balancing acidity and great structure. The 04 Two Blondes will cellar well, but you may not be able to wait. 44% Cabernet Franc, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 21% Merlot.
