Antica Terra "Botanica" Pinot noir 09
Antica Terra Botanica Pinot noir 09 -
Tanzer 93 points!
Glass-staining ruby. Sexy, highly perfumed aromas of red and dark berry liqueur, cherry compote, potpourri, vanilla and Asian spices, along with a smoky quality and a touch of licorice. Stains the palate with deep raspberry and blackberry flavors lifted by juicy acidity and sharpened by a note of bitter orange marmalade. Seamless, sweet and very persistent on the finish, which strongly echoes the dark fruit and spice notes. Very impressive. - Josh Raynolds

The Antica Terra Pinot noir Botanica 06 received 91 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Botanica cuvee will be produced only in the better vintages. The 2006 Pinot Noir Botanica is sourced predominantly from the Shea Vineyard (which Sine Qua Non was using until recently). Medium ruby-colored, it offers up a toasty, cedary, cherry and raspberry accented nose followed by layers of fruit on the mid-palate. Ripe, concentrated, and mouth-filling the wine is well-balanced, savory, and long in the finish. Drink this pleasurable effort from 2010 to 2018. "
Antica Terra's high-end cuvee, this Pinot noir is made from 88% Shea Vineyard fruit, blocks 9 and 19. Scents of rose petal and sweet berry billow from the glass - this wine has bounteous aromas! The flavors are richly intense - sweet red and blue fruit - raspberry, blueberry, red cherry, with a thread of warm, sweet spicy pie cinnamon throughout. The finish shows off the near perfect, sumptuous structure and layers of fruit and spice that linger delightfully. Aged in one-third new barrels to allow the purity of Pinot fruit to shine. This is one of the top 2006 Oregon Pinot noirs, period. Extremely limited.

"Deep, bright red. Powerfully scented nose offers a sexy bouquet of red and dark berry preserves, incense, Asian spices and fresh flowers. Fleshy black raspberry and candied cherry flavors are deep and palate-coating, but there's no excess weight. Turns spicier on the long finish, which adds to the impression of juiciness and verve. Maggie Harrison, who was an assistant winemaker at Sine Qua Non, is the winemaker here.
