Arterberry Maresh Pinot noir 08

The Real Deal

Hello from Marcus!

Arterberry Maresh 2008 Maresh Vineyard Pinot noir
is one of the top 10 wines
of Oregon's perfect 2008 vintage.

It's early in the 2008 vintage,
but I am confident in this prediction.

I've come to know this wine throughout the process of barrel tastings over the last year. And it's the real deal.

This 3-week presale at $54.95 saves you over $200/case.

April 1, Arterberry Maresh 08 will revert to $75. I cannot emphasize enough: if you like world-class Pinot noir, this is your moment.

The first time I tasted, it was lucky I was wedged between barrels at the winery, looking for something to sit on because this wine sits you down. I'm day-dreaming about those tastes, knowing how good this wine will be in a handful of years...if not a handful of months.

Maresh Vineyard Pinot noir 08

PRESALE PRICE $54.95/$49.46

Shipping after April 1.

Arterberry Maresh Pinots are seamless and silky - the 2008 is bursting with succulent, mouthwatering, layered cherries and wild strawberries, with orange oil, cedar spice, brown sugar, black tea and huckleberry appearing on the finish. Tremendous Pinot sweetness gushes towards the end, ideally balanced by the 2008 dream-vintage acidity. A veil of super-fine tannins helps the finish resound.

9 barrels were made (224 cases), aged for 16 months in primarily twice filled barrels. Harvested October 26-30, the incredibly low yields - less than 1 ton/acre - ripened to perfection during cold, sunny days. The oldest blocks of Maresh Vineyard - the fifth oldest in the Willamette Valley - are in this wine. Vine age ranges from 1970 to 1991.

Presale price ends April 1.

Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay 08

1 barrel made, 24 cases bottled,

The beautiful liquid gold gushes: Meyer lemon, pear, honey, jasmine, wet stone, toast, and a little bramley apple on the finish. Extravagant texture and huge, sweet fruit is balanced by amazing acid - this Chard finishes clean and fresh. This is an absolute show-stopper.

Jim's Chardonnay spent 15 months in a new Dargaud & Jaegle light toast barrel, with no fining or filtering before bottling. 26 year-old vine Chardonnay from the top of the hill in the Maresh Vineyard. Jim's mom, Martha, planted the vines when she was pregnant with Jim.

Evesham Wood
"La Grieve Bleue"
Pinot noir 08 $23.95

Lush, juicy, perfumed and expressive. Silky red fruits, delicate herbs and mint, and warm spice. Always a limited wine, the 2008 was a low-yielding year so this is very limited. From the twelve year-old, northeast block of Evesham Wood's organically certified, dry farmed estate vineyard.

Evesham Wood
Eola Amity Cuvee
Pinot noir 08 $21.95/$19.75

Surprisingly dark and burly. Don't let the price fool you - this is serious Pinot noir that begs for aging. Nicely aromatic when first opened, the Eola-Amity shows blue flowers, perfume, black cherry, autumn leaves, and truffle. With considerable air (we wrote this note on day three!) a creamy palate of rainer cherry, humus, and blackberry emerge, expand, and sweeten through the finish. Sourced from 80% Temperance Hill, 20% Eola Springs Vineyards.
