2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

Dark and savory from start to finish, Aubichon 08 shows the black side of cherries and raspberries. A deft kiss of oak, juicy acidity and the 2008 vintage's subtle grip accentuate the almost lavish fruit, finding everything in its place. Aubichon is a partnership that grew from Le Cadeau Winery. Winemaker Jim Sanders, who made our favorite 2007 Le Cadeau Pinot - Equinoxe - partners with the Mortimers (Le Cadeau). Sanders learned his winemaking from Mike Etzel at Beaux Freres.

Tom and Deb Mortimer also own Le Cadeau Vineyard and winery. They make three Pinot noirs, one each from three different winemakers. Jim is on of those winemakers.

Jim Sanders learned his winemaking from Mike Etzel at Beaux Freres. Jim and his wife Kristin rented a house from Mike on the BF property. That provided an opportunity to learn Mike’s approach to winemaking over a 6 or 7-year period. The winery says: “Jim is meticulous in every detail of his winemaking, and takes a non-interventionist approach letting the vintage speak clearly through the wine.”
