Ayres Vyd Pinot noir Willamette Valley 2010Review: A mixture of boysenberries and blackberries interspersed with dark chocolate and mushrooms. This is Ayres' biggest and boldest Pinot noir. 2009 Vintage Tasting Notes The beauty of blending comes alive in this bottle as our estate fruit joins fruit from the Eola Hills. This wine has dance! High tones of bing cherries, roasted plums, and raspberries. Baking spices (think all-spice and clove) and violets on the nose. Dollar for dollar you will not find a more detailed, a more luminous Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It is ready to drink at dinner tonight, but give it a few years in the bottle and you will think you are drinking one of our estate wines. - the winery 2008 Vintage Tasting Notes Ayres Vineyard Pinot noir Willamette Valley 08 - a super value 2008 Oregon Pinot noir. A darker wine when first opened, with intriguing aromas of humus and espresso. Give this a bit of air and watch the evolution - a delicious combo of deep berry flavors and a streak of raspberry compote comes alive. A nice rich texture lets the huckleberry pie, brambly raspberry, licorice and graham flavors hang on the finish. - Marcus 2007 Vintage Tasting Notes Fresh raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and a big dollop of juicy strawberry on the nose and palate. Supple and smooth with nuances of truffle and nice sweetness throughout. If there's a better value in Oregon Pinot right now, show me. - Avalon Ayres Vineyard Pinot noir Willamette Valley 07 is silky smooth and seamless! This oh-so-elegant wine delivers a beautiful balance of baked plum, dark cherry, and black raspberry pastry sharing space with freshly turned earth. Aromas of green tea, violets, and dried lavender…consider it aromatherapy in your glass! Made from 50% Ayres’ Estate fruit and 50% old-vine Eola Hills fruit. - the winery About the Winery Brad McLeroy honed his winemaking skills at the famed Domaine Drouhin Oregon under the direction of Veronique Drouhin. His full-time position at AYRES completes his circle of wine experience from retailer to distributor to producer. According to McLeroy, “My wines will always have a soul.” Open a bottle and it shows… We believe our wine gives voice to the soil. We believe that our wine guides us as much as we guide our wine. It’s about reciprocity. It’s a relationship that begins in the vineyard, from the first sign of bud break to the last cluster harvested. We have the luxury of growing the grapes, making the wine on-site, and living in the company of the vines. We love what we do here at AYRES. The Vineyard Ayres Vineyard & Winery was purchased in September 2000 by business partners and family members, Brad McLeroy & Kathleen McClure-McLeroy and Don & Carol McClure. The existing filbert orchard was cleared that November and the first 3 acres of vines (Pinot Noir clone 667) were planted in March 2001. Currently the vineyard is planted to 6 acres of Pinot Noir clone 667, 3 acres of Pinot Noir clone 115, 4 acres of Pinot Noir clone 777, 1 acre of Pinot Noir clone 113, and 4 acres of Pommard. The vineyard is also host to an experimental plot of white grape varietals, including Pinot Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, and the little known Pinot d’Auxerrois. |
