Review: In the under $25 Oregon Pinot noir competition, and it's getting tough, the Ayres Willamette Valley 2011 is a strong competitor. An up and coming winery with a growing following and a prime location for their estate vineyard, next door to a key source of Archery Summit fruit. 2010 Vintage This is Ayres 8th bottling of the Willamette Valley Pinot noir. Bing cherries, roasted plums and wild raspberries mix with green tea and brown sugar on the nose for a detailed, luminous wine. Drink now or cellar for a few years. 2009 Vintage Tasting Notes The beauty of blending comes alive in this bottle as our estate fruit joins fruit from the Eola Hills. This wine has dance! High tones of bing cherries, roasted plums, and raspberries. Baking spices (think all-spice and clove) and violets on the nose. Dollar for dollar you will not find a more detailed, a more luminous Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It is ready to drink at dinner tonight, but give it a few years in the bottle and you will think you are drinking one of our estate wines. - the winery 2008 Vintage Tasting Notes A super value 2008 Oregon Pinot noir. A darker wine when first opened, with intriguing aromas of humus and espresso. Give this a bit of air and watch the evolution - a delicious combo of deep berry flavors and a streak of raspberry compote comes alive. A nice rich texture lets the huckleberry pie, brambly raspberry, licorice and graham flavors hang on the finish. - Marcus 2007 Vintage Tasting Notes Fresh raspberry, cherry, rose petal, and a big dollop of juicy strawberry on the nose and palate. Supple and smooth with nuances of truffle and nice sweetness throughout. If there's a better value in Oregon Pinot right now, show me. - Avalon Silky smooth and seamless! This oh-so-elegant wine delivers a beautiful balance of baked plum, dark cherry, and black raspberry pastry sharing space with freshly turned earth. Aromas of green tea, violets, and dried lavender…consider it aromatherapy in your glass! Made from 50% Ayres’ Estate fruit and 50% old-vine Eola Hills fruit. - the winery |
