Baer Winery

Baer Winery was founded by Lance Baer in partnership with his sister, Lisa, in 2000 and by 2003, with the release of the winery's signature red wine, Ursa, Baer rose to regional prominence. Lance called Ursa "...a feminine expression of red wine, predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc." It was soon followed by Arctos, a bolder Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend. Since 2003, Baer has sourced all of its fruit from the Stillwater Creek Vineyard.

In 2007, Lance Baer died at the age of 39. His father stepped up to be Lisa's partner and is operating as General Manager while Lisa focuses her attention on Sales and Marketing. They hired Erica Orr to be consulting winemaker and Leroy Radford is the cellarmaster.

In 2011, the 2008 Ursa received 95 points from Wine Spectator. The winery continues to grow and try new things. They introduced a new wine, Star, a red blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in 2009 and they also make a Chardonnay called, Shard. They made their first Syrah in 2011.

Baer is a rising star winery and a tribute to Lance's dream of bringing a new and original vision to Washington wine.
