Belle Pente’s a long time favorite of ours so we feel particularly qualified to say that their wines just keep getting better. 2013 brings the return of their Yamhill Carlton bottling, which is 100% estate grown. Within the riper Yamhill Carlton AVA, Belle Pente creates silky, finesse-driven wines of freshness and balance. Enjoy with abandon.

Previous vintage notes: This is a killer value, absolutely packed with flavor. Loaded with dark berries and plums, finishing with pure fruit and subtle field herbs. Declassified Belle Pente Vineyard - we are very excited to taste Belle Pente's forthcoming 2010 releases! - Marcus

2009 Vintage

The Belle Pente Yamhill-Carlton Pinot noir is rich, juicy, and compelling. Aromas of fresh blackberry, sweet cinnamon and white pepper introduce the Y-C experience. Wild blackberry and raspberry fruit, pie-spiced berry compote, and a touch of fresh thyme lead into a long silky and savory finish. - Jean

The Yamhill-Carlton vividly demonstrates the special qualities of Oregon Pinot noir. A perfect choice for sharing with people who want to try Oregon's premier wine.

2008 Vintage

The 2008 vintage of this wine was the New York Times' #1 Oregon Pinot noir.

Another sub-$25 winner from Belle Pente, this round and silky, red-fruited beauty is ready to be on your table, in your glass.

New York Times went crazy over the Belle Pente Willamette Valley 08 today, saying - "Our No. 1 bottle was the Belle Pente Willamette Valley, beautifully balanced, well coiled with acidity and harmonious on the palate, with complex aromas of mint, red fruit, flowers and smoke. At $23, it was our best value." So it sold out in about five minutes.

So owner and winemaker at Belle Pente, Brian O'Donnell, says "buy the Yamhill Carlton 08 - it's a better wine and it's only a dollar more." We agree.

2007 Vintage

From the winery: We've produced a "generic" Yamhill-Carlton District bottling every year since the appellation was formally approved in 2003. However, in 2007 all of the grapes came from our estate vineyard (the same one that produces our Belle Pente Vineyard and Estate Reserve wines).

As in past years, a good portion of the grapes for this blend come from younger North Blocks of the vineyard. But in 2007, we decided to add some "fruit driven" barrels from the East Blocks to this bottling.

This fresh, bright youngster is is a beautiful expression of the "kinder, gentler" side of the Yamhill-Carlton appellation. Reminiscent of a good Cru Beaujolais, enjoy now with lighter dishes.

2006 Vintage

The Belle Pente Yamhill Carlton Pinot noir 06 is made with fruit from the winery's own estate vineyard, located in the Yamhill Carlton AVA. Deceptively light in color, it fills the nose and mouth with focused fresh fruit, herbs, and spice. it is a wine of unusual complexity and quality for the price.

In the nose, there's delicate scents of red raspberry and red cherry blossoms, with a hint of thyme. Tasting the wine, there's fresh red raspberry, cranberry, blueberry, a hint of sweet spice, and a refreshing, lilting finish that reiterates the red raspberry and blueberry qualities.

From the winemaker: "This edition of our Yamhill-Carlton bottling is vastly superior to the 2005 version (because we didn't even make it in '05!) In 2006, the grapes for this wine came exclusively from our estate vineyard, mostly the younger vines on top of the hill that were planted in 1999. It is typically the first part of the vineyard that we harvest, picking early to retain the freshness and bright fruit that is often difficult to capture in warmer vintages, especially with our relatively warm site. This 2006 version delivers the ripe, luscious fruit of the vintage balanced by bright acidity. Light in color and texture, the wine features complex herbal and floral aromas accented by alluring cranberry & blueberry notes. It packs a lot of flavor into a lean, focused package, showing impressive concentration without being heavy. Enjoy this fresh little gem today and over the next few years."

2004 Vintage

From the winery: "This is our second bottling of this wine, which highlights the more specific regional appellation of our new "home" AVA (American Viticultural Area). Like last year's version, this wine is produced exclusively from grapes grown on our estate vineyard, mostly the very young vines on the top of the hill planted in 1999. Once again it provides a great introduction to the sensory elements derived from the ancient sedimentary soils in the Yamhill-Carlton District. The aromas are deeper and darker than the Willamette Valley blend, showing more blue/black fruits, along with some faint herbal/floral notes, and a distinct underlying minerality. There is also more structure, with ripe tannins balanced by sweet, sappy fruit. A very light oak regime (only 11% new, with the balance evenly divided between 1, 2, 3, & 4 year old barrels) allows the fruit to shine and the soils to sing. Great now, even better in 6 months."
