Wine Advocate: The 2008 Pinot Noir Bergstrom Estate is sourced from the winery’s 15 acres in the Dundee Hills AVA. Medium ruby in color, it exhibits an enticing bouquet of rose petal, spice box, toast, incense, cherry, and raspberry. On the palate it is the most succulent of the Bergstrom offerings with densely packed red fruits, a satin texture, plenty of structure, and a lengthy, sweet finish. Give it 2-3 years to fully blossom and drink it from 2012 to 2023. - Jay Miller

About the Bergstrom estate vineyard - Our 15 acre Pinot Noir vineyard, first planted in 1999 by the Bergström family, sits on a unique basaltic flow in a bowl shaped south-east facing slope in the Dundee Hills. This site is producing world-class Pinot Noirs which will rival the best wines from Burgundy and beyond. Farmed certified Biodynamic since the 2004 vintage (and organically since its first planting), the Bergström Vineyard continues to go from strength to strength, showcasing why the Oregon Pioneers chose the Dundee Hills as a starting point and anchor for the great Oregon wine industry. “The 2007 Pinot Noir Bergström Vineyard is sourced from a biodynamically farmed estate parcel, another step toward Bergstrom’s goal of being totally biodynamic. He states that the vineyard yields a “ferrous mineral quality”. Dark crimson-colored, it displays a lovely perfume of toast, mineral, spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry. Elegant on the palate, it has layers of savory fruit, light tannin, succulent flavors, and impeccable balance. This lengthy effort will benefit from another 2-3 years of bottle age and perform optimally from 2011 to 2020.”
The 2007 Bergström Vineyard Pinot Noir has the subtle elegance that is packed with potential for future years. The wine is very youthful and focused with a unique licorice expression which adds to the intrigue of the site.

Difficulties with the weather certainly don't show in this magnificent Pinot. This is the Bergstrom's one Pinot made from their own estate "Bergstrom Vineyard". We've been recommending it to customer who collect verticals since the first vintage. Josh puts his all into this wine each year, and it's probably the purest representation of his unique and pleasing style.
The 2004 starts with hints of red raspberry, violets, and atar of roses in the nose, followed by a lush and silky texture in the mouth. Flavors are of black cherry, red cherry, blackberry, hints of soft cinnamon, clove, allspice and white pepper, and just a low echo of minerality and earthiness in the finish. It's sooo pleasant now, but will cellar well for 3-5 years.
Made from selected grapes from eight different blocks of the vineyard, the maturity of the vines is beginning to show in the increased layering of the flavors. Tremendously interesting and satisfying. Try with grilled lamb, pork tenderloin, wild mushrooms sauteed in butter with shallots.

From the Family's own estate located in the Red Hills of Dundee, the Bergstr÷m Vineyard highlights what greatness can come from the volcanic soils that started the Oregon Wine Industry. The Bergstr÷m Vineyard is farmed biodynamically without the use of dangerous chemicals and the crop yields maintained in this vineyard site are by far some of the lowest in the world, with averages between 0.75-1.0 tons per acre every year (a mere 4-7 clusters per plant, or 1.3 bottles of wine per plant).
