Bethel Heights Eola Amity Hills Cuvee Pinot noir 07
Bethel Heights Eola Amity Hills Cuvee Pinot noir 07 - price change from $27.
Welcoming aromas of warm raspberries, cloves, and woodspice, with little hints of red plums. Rich red cherries lead into a burst of spice-accented red fruit. The texture is supple and attractive, while the ribbon of fine tannins and the juicy acidity suggest this Pinot will develop nicely in your cellar. Buy a case - six for now and six for the cellar! At this value, you can't go wrong.
The winery's gift to Oregonians, sold in state only, this is their great value Pinot, and it's excellent this vintage, as usual. It's a blend of Estate and purchased fruit.
Winery tasting notes: Initial aromas of clove and anise give way to dusty raspberry, oak spice, and plum as the wine opens in the glass. The entry is juicy with Royal Anne cherry, hints of citrus, and firm yet balanced acidity carrying the wine to the finish. The tannins are fine grained and suit the wine in its youth, but are robust enough to balance this wine for aging over the next 5-7 years.

2005 Vintage Tasting Notes
Previous vintage 2005 tasting notes: Bethel Heights' most youthfully attractive Bethel Heights Pinot yet! Beautiful aromas of red fruit and warm cinnamon...almost like cutting into a fresh out of the oven cherry/raspberry pie. Don't get the wrong idea it's not just about yummy fruit. The elegant texture dances the Pinot noir waltz. A serious crowdpleaser from an Oregon wine institution.
Here is a wine that would compare favorably against others asking twice the price. It's round and opulent with a forward nose that hints at truffles and coffee beneath ripe fruit. Raspberry ripeness carries through the lush, mouthfilling taste complemented by silky tannins. It's an admirable introduction to the new Eola-Amity Hills AVA from one of the area's longest established and most well-regarded wineries. - Oregon Wine Press

The winery says: "For this wine we selected our most immediately appealing, forwardly fruity Pinot noir barrels of the vintage and blended them into a wine that can be enjoyed while it's young, saving us all the time of cellaring and giving plenty of immediate gratification. Or, for those who want to assemble a cellar on a budget, this wine will continue to improve for the next five to seven years."
