Bethel Heights Pinot noir Southeast Block 07
Bethel Heights Pinot noir Southeast Block 07 - the winery: "Star Anise, cloves, and damp earth overlay the classic blueberry and briar of the Southeast Block. The palate displays a dense core of black cherry, balanced acidity, and the lovely round tannins we find in our whole cluster fermentations. This wine will certainly age gracefully over the next ten years, but I believe it could go much longer."
Previous Vintage Tasting Notes
2005 Vintage Tasting Notes Wine Spectator 90 points: Smooth in texture, with vibrant acidity against wild strawberry and plum flavors. The fruit plays against the toast and fine tannins on the lengthy finish. Best from 2009 through 2015.-H.S.
A bigger, darker Pinot with hints of pepper spice that carry through from aroma to finish. Lots of fresh blueberry and notes of blueberry syrup mix with dark berry to provide a superb base note. Bethel Heights' Southeast Block is 29 years old-some of the oldest Pinot vines in Oregon.--Marcus "Aromas of black cherry, black pepper and cinnamon, nice underlying earthiness and tobacco. Dense blueberry flavors dominate the palate, complexing earthy character and mouth-coating tannins." - the winemaker - a 6-acre section of Bethel Heights Estate vineyard planted in 1979. Red clay soil is volcanic in origin. 100% Pommard- Aged for 14 months in 30% new French oak.
