Bethel Heights Pinot noir Flat Block Reserve 07

Winery: Bethel Heights

Bethel Heights Pinot noir Flat Block Reserve 07 - Wine Spectator 92 points: "Light and silky, a gorgeous, delicate style that lets its red berry and plum fruit dance sinuously over the polished, racy frame. Drink now through 2015."

Previous Vintage Tasting Notes

2005 Vintage Tasting Notes Wine Spectator 91 points: "Supple and graceful. Shows real presence, with creamy cherry and huckleberry flavors, finishing on a creamy note. Lingers artfully against refreshing acidity. Best from 2008 through 2013.-H.S.

I wrote two words at the end of my notes on this wine: "purity" and "finish." The Flat Block, which is 100% Pommard clone Pinot, features a lovely core of cherry and raspberry, with strawberry and dark cherry accents. The finish just sails...and sails.--Marcus

"Delicate aromatics: floral, strawberry, apricot, lots of stone fruit. Flavors of black cherry, blueberry, apricot skins, red fruits changing to stone fruit. Varietal, concentrated, good length and balance." - the winemaker

- Flat Block yields the most refined and elegant Pinot Noir, beautifully balanced, with a specificity of aroma and flavor that transcends vintage differences. Wines from Flat block have been bottled as separate Reserves since 1991. A 3.3 acre section planted in 1979, directly above the neighboring Southeast Block. 100% Pommard Clone. 94 cases produced - Aged for 14 months in French oak.

MORE INFORMATION

2002 Vintage Tasting Notes Wine Advocate (Robert Parker) 91 points: "Dark berries and hints of licorice can be found in the aromatic profile of the 2002 Pinot Noir Flat Block Reserve. This medium to dark ruby-colored wine is medium-bodied, reveals outstanding concentration, and sports a long, seamless finish. Its flavor profile, composed of a myriad of dark fruits (principally blackberries and dark cherries) is spiced with notes of freshly laid road tar. Projected maturity: 2006-2012."
