Boudreaux Cellars Merlot 05
A monster Merlot, built for Bordeaux fans. Cherry cola, new leather, plum, shade leaf tobacco, and cinnamon are wrapped around a dense core of red and black cherries. There's a sappy note that makes you think black strap molasses, mingling with a nice touch of cedary oak on the finish. Like the Cab, the Boudreaux Merlot has a huge frame that will flesh out over the next 5-7 years in the cellar.

No Washington Cab cellar is complete without the Boudreaux 05 Cab. A bold statement, but give it five years and it will be one of the best wines in your cellar. Deep, concentrated aromas of black fruit lead in to tightly wound cassis, blueberry, and blackberry pie flavors. A massive wine in structure - not a fruit forward big red. Plentiful tannins carry through the finish, picking up savory notes, and a tinge of cedar while the black fruit sweetens and lingers. Tasted over the course of four days, the Boudreaux Cab could be decanted for a couple hours and enjoyed with a big hunk of protein, but we recommend cellaring.
