Brick House Evelyn's Pinot noir 06
Brick House Evelyn's Pinot noir 06 is an homage to winemaker and owner Doug Tunnell's mother Evelyn. It is a choice selection of grapes from the Brick House estate vineyard, a combination of 50% Pommard and 50% Dijon fruit. 180 cases were made in 2006.
"One of the best wines Doug ever made" is how his Oregon distributor, Casa Bruno, describes the wine. We agree. The 2006 Evelyn's is a an elegant wine, with qualities reflecting what's going on in the vineyard, rather than what's done to the wine in the winery. Evelyn's is a wine with a sunny disposition- there's nothing brooding here, but elegant, fresh sweet fruit flavors prevail. As the wine opens in the mouth, its clean, fresh quality shows even more, along with raspberries, cherries, subtle nutmeg spice, and the tiniest hint of an earthy quality. Tannins are totally integrated in this forward, fresh, elegant wine. Memorable.
