Brigadoon Wine Co.
Brigadoon Wine Co. is a new Oregon winery making Oregon Pinot noir from its own six acre vineyard in the South end of the Willamette Valley. The combination of the southern valley’s hotter days and the vineyard elevation’s colder nights both ripen the fruit and stress the vines, resulting in complex and satisfying wines. They also make wine with fruit from vineyards around the state.
Brigadoon is a family winery, with Chris Shown managing the vineyard, Sheree Shown assisting their son Matt in making the wines, and son Nick working with the farm’s timber and developing the winery’s “farm to table” products.
More About Brigadoon Wine Co.
Chris grew up in vineyards. His first job in 1970 was working for his father planting the Rutherford Vineyard in Napa Valley. When he moved to Oregon, he brought his deep knowledge of grape growing to the South Willamette, where he meticulously farms his six acres. A strong believer in hands on sustainable agriculture, Chris not only manages Brigadoon Vineyards, but is also the primary caretaker of the vines and land. In addition, he manages other small vineyards in the Southern Willamette Valley.
Chris's son Matt makes the family wines. He is known for his tasty good value Pinot, called "Lylee" and his higher end Eola Amity and Taproot Pinot noirs and a Pinot blanc.
The Lylee name comes from a combination of Chris Lyle Shown and Sheree Lee Shown’s names. The Lylee Pinot noir is their ready to drink wine that they describe as “complementing our daily lives.” You get a lot of wine for your money. The Lylee goes well with a burger, but stands on its own paired with fancier cuisine like Oregon's succulent spring lamb or grilled salmon.
