Review:
Aromas of cream and custard followed by rose hips, Turkish Delight, and fresh mown hay. This is considered a "medium sweet" riesling by the International Riesling Foundation Scale.
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Generous aromatics of fresh mown hay, wet stones/minerals,
melon (honeydew), lime blossom, talc and stone
fruits (nectarines and white peaches) literally leap
from the glass. More subtle notes of petrol, slate, white
flowers, honeysuckle and violets or lilac add more complex
notes after the initial aromatics have been brought
forth. The aromas are complex, mouthwatering and very
very focused and fresh.
It is on the palate that this wine really shines. The
attack is lush, balanced and ripe, but rapier-like acidity
brings great focus and lifts the wine into the mid-palate
that is succulent and sweet tart. The juicy finish
goes on and on.
The balance on this wine is perfect. Not
a classically dry American Riesling at all but a Riesling
with classic Germanic roots that is not afraid to deliver
outstanding quality and personality on its own terms. A
new Oregon classic. - the winery
