2008 Oregon Pinot noir

This may be Oregon's best vintage yet.
Wine Spectator

Evesham Wood Bruno, Broadley Vineyards

Avalon Wine

2008 is the vintage of the decade - and the first 08 Pinots are here.

Today, we have two great values - under $20 wines from outstanding Indies - small production, high quality, low prices.

Here's what Wine Spectator's Harvey Steiman has to say on Oregon's 2008 vintage:

"...a classic Oregon vintage. It has ripe flavors without high alcohol, ripe tannins so the textures are fine, and an open feel to the structure that puts nothing in the way between us and the wines. The wines have finesse."

"In cellar after cellar I tasted fresh, juicy flavors across the spectrum. It is a ripe vintage without high alcohol levels, the result of all that sunshine without heat."

"If the wines emerge in the bottle as they are showing in the barrel, this will be the vintage Oregon vintners can point to and say, "See what we can do"?

"Bruno" Pinot noir 08

Read more about Evesham Wood

THE best value in Oregon Pinot noir right now. Made by Evesham Wood, one of Oregon's finest wineries. Packed with juicy flavors of black cherries and raspberries, this is the Pinot we want to be drinking right now. Cola spice and earth accents add character, and we're making room in our cellars!

Bruno Pinot noir 08 is made by Evesham Wood for their Oregon distributor - it's only available in Oregon!

The Bruno Pinot noir 08 is sourced from several vineyards in the Salem, Oregon area, near Evesham Wood's winery.

Evesham Wood is one of those wineries in Oregon that sells out so fast, most people never hear about it. It's the unique combination of superb wines and the most modest prices in Oregon that make them a cult favorite.

Broadley Vineyards
Pinot noir Willamette Valley 08
$19.95/$17.95

Avalon Wine

Broadley's cellar is filled with exceptional 2008 Pinot. What do you do when you have so much good juice? Make a delicious $20 Willamette Valley blend! Aromas of dark cherry creme brulee and fir forest open to elegant dark berry flavors that build through the finish. This is attractive now but has plenty of structure to age for a few years.

Dark opaque, unfiltered, the scents, upon opening, are of black raspberry and spice. Flavors are juicy, with big black fruit. Blackberry and a bit of black cherry are refreshing, with a racy natural acidity. Ready to drink, approachable, but balanced, this wine will age for 2-5 years. This is a unique concentrated and satisfying value wine, exceptional for the price. - the winery
