Buty Winery Hartebeest Cabernet Sauvignon 08

Walla Walla red from the famed "stones" vineyards. Delicious, ready to drink, balanced black fruit and appealing. The slightly grippy tannins from the Petit verdot in the blend are perfect for a wine that pairs well with t-bone steak or hearty Italian with lots of garlic. Hints of cherrywood smoke, earth, and sweet oak on the finish. Sets a new value/quality level for Cab from Walla Walla's coveted stones area vineyard fruit. - Jean

The vineyards nicknamed "the stones" are on the Oregon side of the Columbia river, an area made famous by Cayuse, whose vineyards are located there. The vineyards are filled with round river rocks, thus the name.

The "Beast" wines, made by Buty Winery, are wines that don't fit their standard lineup - new varietals, new vineyards, or an intriguing new blend.

From the winery - After a thrilling hunt, we captured the alluring Hartebeest from the ancestral riverbed of the Walla Walla River. This trophy is from “the Stones”. A real wine of place, the classic smoothness of the Stones comes through with great fruit and earth. It is an elegant, beautiful wine—a gracrful beast. The 2008 Hartebeest cabernet sauvignon has a touch of toothsome petit verdot. Blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered, it shows off the appeal of Walla Walla.
