Buty Winery Columbia Rediviva 06
Wine Spectator 93 points
This ripe red offers an open texture that lets the flavors of boysenberry, cherry and spice shoot through easily, expanding and lingering on the long, expressive finish. There's lots of flavor, but this isn't weighty. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Best from 2011 through 2016. 930 cases made. HS
The nose opens with sweet fruits, cream brulée, and syrah’s pepper notes. Powerful extracted fruits fill the palate and follow through the long finish. The naturally acids are clean and connect with smooth tannins. Like the neighboring cabernets this wine will develop its perfume fully by the seventh year of age and remain youthful until fifteen years old. I know from experience, this wine will have a long life in your cellar of twenty years or more.
Dominated by cabernet sauvignon, Columbia Rediviva is our deluxe blend of cabernet sauvignon and syrah. Estate grown at Phinny Hill Vineyard, this wine offers a powerful structure and long future. In 1972, across the road, Dick and Cheryl Beightol planted the Mercer Ranch brother's vineyard, now known as Champoux Vineyard. Dick and Cheryl have seen 40 vintages on Phinny Hill and we are happy to be developing our wine their Phinny Hill property. Six years in the making in the vineyard and three years in the cellar, we are delighted to finally share it with you nine years later. - the winery
Columbia Rediviva was the name of the ship Captain Robert Gray sailed up the mouth of the then unnamed river while searching for the elusive Northwest Passage in 1792. As the river that connects all of the vineyards we work with at Buty, the Columbia River is a lifeline we honor as the namesake of our Columbia Rediviva wine. Wine Advocate (Parker) 92 points
The 2006 Rediviva of the Stones is composed of 53% Syrah and 47% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is similarly styled to the Columbia Rediviva but with a more expansive perfume, slightly more opulence on the palate, and a bit more structure. It will evolve for 2-3 years and offer peak drinking from 2011 to 2021.
These are the best wines yet from Caleb Foster, owner/winemaker of Buty Winery. - Wine Advocate

Buty Winery Columbia Rediviva 05 - Wine Spectator 93 points: "Polished, generous and beautifully focused to display its violet-tinged currant and blackberry flavors, lingering on the open-textured finish. This shows more of the texture and flavor profile of Cabernet than Syrah, and it works elegantly. Best from 2010 through 2015. 340 cases made. - HS" 1-25-09
Big, delicious Cabernet/Syrah blend, sourced from some of the best fruit in Washington State.
Previous vintage tasting notes: 100% Champoux Vineyard fruit, 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Syrah. Hugely rich, aged over a year in bottle, this wine has "come together and integrated. It's smoother and more refined." - Caleb Foster, winemaker
