Review:
Old vine, old school. Abbey Ridge boasts some of Oregon's oldest Chardonnay vines. Cameron treats these exquisite grapes right: barrel fermentation in neutral oak for nearly two years, imparting an amazing seamlessness. A true "grand cru" of Oregon wine. - Marcus

The 2009 Chardonnay Abbey Ridge was sourced from 35 year old vines, aged sur lie, and bottled without filtration. Light gold in color, it offers up an enticing nose of pear, melon, and hazel nuts. In the glass it opens to reveal a vibrant acid structure, ripe flavors, and excellent length. It will provide enjoyment for another 4-5 years at the very least. - Jay Miller
Winemaker John Paul says: “A warm vintage such as 2009 usually favors the higher elevation and cooler sight characterizing Abbey Ridge. Add to that the 35 year-old Draper clones which occupy part of the original Chardonnay vineyard block at this vineyard and you are on to something significant.
In the cellar we fermented the juice from this pressing in old French Oak barrels from our favorite cooper, Claude Gillet. The wine and all of its lies (sediment) was left to contemplate the future for nearly 2 years, undisturbed. It is an old White Burgundy technique and the resemblance will be obvious to those who are familiar with the latter wines.”
