Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 03
Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 03 - received 92 points Wine Spectator: "Displays fresh plum and berry aromas, with undertones of mineral and dried flowers. Full-bodied, with refined tannins and a long finish. A solid wine for the vintage. Best after 2011. 1,580 cases made."
This is the rare young Barolo that is ready to drink now.
Wine Advocate (Robert Parker): "The 2003 Barolo Bricco Boschis, a dark ruby, reveals a wild, brooding personality. It offers masses of dark fruit and grilled herbs in a full-bodied, idiosyncratic, somewhat animalistic style. It is a massively tannic, impressively structured Barolo that needs bottle age to settle down. While it may not have the elegance of the superb 2001, this quirky Barolo improved markedly in the glass and is likely to offer much pleasure for those who can be patient. It remains one of the better relative values in Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020."
"Cavallotto is one of the hidden gems of Piedmont. Based in Castiglione Falletto, this traditionally-minded estate continues to build on the success of past vintages with a very strong set of wines. This year’s releases include the 2003 Barolo Bricco Boschis and the 2001 Barolo Riservas, all of which merit careful consideration."
