Review:
Aged in oak barrels, this cabernet franc displays characteristics of cherries, raspberries, licorice, and violets.
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
The Chinook Cabernet Franc was featured in the Oregonian newspaper, May 18, 2008. Wine writer Matt Kramer (Wine Spectator) said:
"Nearly all good wineries everywhere have a signature wine, a bottling that, year in and year out, is a you-can-bet-on-it winner. Chinook, a small Washington winery of note, has one as well, namely their cabernet franc."
"When you taste this just-released 2006 vintage from Chinook, you'll wonder why cab franc has not gotten its share of wine love. This is a suave, elegant cabernet franc suffused with the raspberry and cherry scents the variety can deliver, offered in a supple, drink-now style. This is the sort of sleek red wine that relies on intrinsic goodness rather than oakiness (there's none) or a tannic, inky formidability that suggests it-must-be-great-because-I-can't-drink it."
"Believe me, you can drink this wine with pleasure -- and then look around for some more. Serve this with grilled goodies, including salmon, and you'll be a fan, I promise."
