Review:

The 2010 Pinot Noir Reserve Estate Grown sports a classy perfume of smoke, exotic spices, floral notes, black cherry, and black raspberry. More complex and substantial on the palate (but not by much) than the Estate cuvee, this lengthy Pinot will deliver optimum drinking from 2012 to 2021.

Colene Clemens Vineyards & Winery is a small, family-owned and operated winery owned by Joe and Vicki Stark with vigneron Stephen Goff overseeing the 40-acre vineyard and making the wine. Their 2009s are among the finest of the vintage in Willamette Valley. - Jay Miller

Made by Steve Goff, Beaux Freres' Former Assistant Winemaker

Since we're discussing Beaux Freres, it seems fitting that we introduce you to a new wine, Colene Clemens Reserve 09, made by the former assistant winemaker at Beaux Freres, Steve Goff. Steve started at Beaux Freres in 2001, helping craft some of Beaux Freres' highest-rated Pinot noirs.

Really inviting aromas after decanting, gushing with pretty red berries, creamy earth and nicely integrated oak. Soft and juicy, this is plush Pinot noir that's a joy to drink. - Marcus

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

I love the hints of spice in the nose and the flavor. What kind of spice? It's not easy to tie down. Elusive, it changes quickly - five spice blend with a nod to cinnamon and a hint of cream. Classic 2008 vintage perfect balance. Blackberry and black raspberry fruit with a brambly black currant bass note. Shot silk texture, intense fresh blackberry flavors go on and on, and a finish with tannins so well integrated they simply frame the wine, structuring it for cellaring. Drinking deliciously now with 2-3 hours of air, or cellar 2-8 years. - Jean

A new winery, this is the first vintage from their three year old vineyard, and a remarkably successful one, elegant and complex. Winemaker Steve Goff was most recently assistant winemaker at Beaux Freres, and Steve riffs off Mike Etzel's sophisticated style to create a wine distinctly his own.
