Review:

Colene Clemens, and their winemaker Steve Goff, are on an upward trajectory like few others in Oregon. Peaches and strawberries, mouthwatering and rich. - Marcus

Made entirely from old vine Dundee Hills fruit (vineyard to remain unnamed) farmed and cropped with the intent of using it for rose production.

Winemaker Steve Goff says: "I try to keep it simple and pure, I'm not into heavy, ponderous rose. I've always been a big fan of classic Cote de Provence style rose. Pale in color, lightly extracted, with just a kiss of some red fruit. I know those wines are different varietals (Cinsaut and Grenache) but stylistically that is what's always in my mind when I make this wine."

"I would drink this wine as I would any other rose, on the front porch, in the back yard, cooking in the kitchen with whoever's around and wants to share a glass or all by myself hanging with the dogs, I never need too much of an occasion to pop some rose." - Steve

This morning I tried the Colene Clemens Rose of Pinot noir. Don't let the pale color fool you. It belies the wow factor in the nose. I'd give its intense strawberry, raspberry and citrus scent an 8 out of 10 on the awesome scale.

Fresh, juicy and fruity, the flavors come on strong. There's briar and spice in the mid-palate that clears to a finish of watermelon, cherry, and citrus. It will hold up to the juicy richness of barbecued ribs. I'm trying it this weekend with Ahi tuna on the grill and a papaya/mango sauce. - Jean

The winemaker, Steve Goff, was assistant winemaker at Beaux Freres and his wines have the perfect balance and layered flavors of well made, thoughtful Pinot noir.

Steve says: "Pale copper with a slight hue, the 2011 Rose of Pinot noir offers up a perfume of floral tones and honeysuckle mixed with hints of peach and strawberry. Entering the palate with energy and nerve, it opens up revealing a soft texture over a firm backbone of mouthwatering acidity.

Peach and stone fruits intermingle nicely with hints of strawberry and anise as the acidity ties it all together into a clean finish. Drink now.
