The 2007 Carriage House is a masterful bottling of this blend. The deep color and aromatics of red fruits, French oak, and newly tanned leather introduce you to a tightly concentrated wine. The rich core of DuBrul cherry is surrounded by an aura of sandalwood, clove and cinnamon spices. Tannins are moderate, well integrated. This vintage expresses a normal growing season in the Yakima Valley. - the winery

2007 Wine Advocate 93 points: The 2007 Carriage House is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and 14% Cabernet Franc. Aromas of toasty oak, Asian spices, earthy minerals, tobacco, violets, and black fruits lead to a still tightly wound but well-balanced, lengthy wine that will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring. It will provide optimum drinking from 2015 to 2027. Dr. Hugh and Kathy Shiels started planting their estate DuBrul Vineyard in 1992. It is now recognized as one of the finest sites in Yakima Valley.

Cote Bonnevill bottle and rocky soil

2007 Wine Spectator 91 points: Firm in texture, with mint-accented blackberry and currant ripeness pushing through a swarm of chewy tannins to persist on the fine-grained finish. Needs food, or time in the cellar. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2013 through 2017. - H.S.

2005 Wine Spectator - 92 points - This is lovely stuff, elegant in structure, with silky tannins wrapping smoothly around a lithe core of red cherry, black cherry and sweet spices, lingering effortlessly. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2013. 1,045 cases made. - H.S.
