Review:
This is the final vintage of Maresh Vineyard Chardonnay from Tyson Crowley - Jim Maresh will have sole control over his family's vines into the future. And what a vintage for a finale!
Incredible weight and richness cut with lemon-lime acidity, interwoven minerals, with touches of fresh pineapple, spice cake, and honey on the finish. I could drink this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I highly recommend it. Sourced exclusively from the high-elevation, 1983 plantings of 108 clone Chardonnay. - Marcus
A striking golden straw color gives way to aromatics of white peaches, tart pineapple, mineral, slate and a touch of anise. Citrus tones of lemon and lime frame an austere front palate with striking acidity and fresh fruit while the warmth of subtle spice and lees influence an intense and sleek Chardonnay. The generous finish extends into a dynamic mixture of bright apple and honeycomb. - Tyson
Oregon Chardonnay from Maresh Vineyard old vine fruit. Only 47 cases made.
Made from high-elevation, 108 clone Chardonnay planted in 1983 at the top of Maresh Vineyard - some of the most coveted grapes in Oregon.
First and Last calls - one minute it's released, a week later it's gone. Amazing price for a remarkable Chardonnay. Maresh fruit has a reputation for making some of the best Chardonnay in the state.
2009 Vintage
Opening the bottle, the irresistible aroma immediately drew me in - it's dazzling. Intense honeysuckle, white peaches, Meyer lemon, vanilla custard, and citrus, with hints of tangerine peel, fresh mango and minerals. And that's just the nose!
Exploding in the mouth, it's juicy and rich, with an expansive array of flavors - spiced peaches, citrus, toasted almonds, subtle, smooth custard, with the finish adding a hint of earth and minerals. Opulent, intense, and unforgettable. Marcus had to discipline me to keep me from taking every last bottle home for myself. - Jean

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Fresh cut pineapple, bits of pear, white flowers, minerals, and a burst of key lime that settles into a lemon custard note on the lengthy finish. The generous, mouth-filling yummy fruit is balanced, just like the rocking acidity of the 2008 vintage. In less than a handful of vintages, Tyson Crowley has established himself as one of Oregon's best Chardonnay producers.
Only 100 cases made.
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Crowley Wine's 2008 Chardonnay is made from the 28 year old Maresh Vineyard, whose old vine Chardonnay is coveted by winemakers. Chardonnays made from Maresh fruit usually sell for $35 or more. At $20.95, the complex, elegant, and intense 07 Crowley Chardonnay is a standout.
Orchard fruit flavors of green apple, citrus and pear flavors do a delicious dance here. Bright acidity and hints of stony minerality provide top notes to rounded, deep flavors of oak, vanilla, and spice. Aging in wood enriches the texture and provides fullness and weight.
Highly recommended.
2006 Vintage Tasting Notes
Crowley Wines Chardonnay 06 flavors are minerals, light melon and stone fruit with a hint of lemon and a creamy texture in the mouth. Tyspn Crowley is the owner/winemaker of this new Oregon winery. Heworked at Erath for six years and most recently, Cameron Winery. At Cameron, Tyson "beat out Jackson the dog as John Paul's most loyal companion". he also worked harvest at J.K. Carriere and Brick House.
The Crowley Chardonnay 06 was aged in neutral oak barrels and went through a full malolactic fermentation.
