Crowley Wines Pinot noir
Gehrts Vineyard 09

Review:

The Willamette Valley's 2009 vintage has been quite fun for those of us who like bold Pinots that leap from the glass as soon as the cork is pulled. The classic, more reserved Pinots have been fewer and farther between in 09 and those are the ones with true staying power that rewards the patience of cellaring. The Crowley Gehrts 09 is one of those "reward bottles."- Andy

Fresh cherries spill out in the nose and hint at the tastes to follow. Asian spices and dark cherries are in perfect harmony, with an enticing, well-balanced acidity that makes you thirsty for another glass, and maybe a second bottle. I tasted the Gehrts over two days and like most of the Crowley wines it just got better as it opened up. Pull a cork now to see what I’m talking about, then lay down a few to enjoy through 2019.

Gehrts Vineyard resides in the "high-rent" district of the Dundee Hills, sharing a fence line with Domaine Drouhin. Owned and hand-farmed by Richard Gehrts, who farms by day and cooks at his restaurant, Red Hills Provincial Dining, by night. In addition to Crowley, Gehrts vineyard grapes are purchased by Arterberry Maresh and J. Christopher. - Marcus

2009 Wine Advocate - 90 points - The 2009 Pinot Noir Gehrts Vineyard sourced from an 8 acre parcel in the Dundee Hills AVA displays an enticing bouquet of Asian spices, incense, cedar, cherry, and raspberry. In the glass it opens to reveal a silky texture, moderate depth, succulent flavors, and enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. Drink this spicy Pinot through 2019. - Jay Miller

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

Gehrts Vineyard is located in the heart of the Dundee Hills, sharing a fence line with the famous Domaine Drouhin Oregon estate. This wine shows off the terroir of this site perfectly, blending pure red and dark cherry fruit with the predominant maple and spice character that is the signature of great Dundee Hills wines. The cooler aspect of the site leads to a wine led by firm acidity and soft tannins followed by a ripe fruit core and a lingering finish. - the winery
