Boysenberry, cherry, smoked meat minerality, and thyme scents and flavors are inherent in the vineyard. It has a powerful attack, sweet plump fruit, and extroverted character.
It should drink well on release with decanting, but will develop greater nuance and richness over the next seven to eight years.
This Syrah comes exclusively from a 1.5-acre parcel of McDuffee Vineyard in The Dalles, Eastern Oregon. The vineyard is cropped around two tons per acre, and the wine is aged without new oak, leaving the concentrated fruit to express itself. Cool nights in the vineyard maintain a crisp acidity in the wine, making it a wonderful partner for food. |
