Big toasty oak nose, hints of smoke, dark roasted espresso bean, black stone fruit and berry flavors, hints of licorice, mint and anise. Layering of flavors makes this a special Syrah, it challenges the consumer to identify and enjoy its complexity, as well as its lush richness. -jy

Dominio IV limits itself to Tempranillo and Syrah from warm-climate vineyards in Oregon and Washington. The 500-case Dominio is the unique vision of Leigh Bartholomew, vineyard manager for Archery Summit, and her husband, Patrick Reuter, whose masters thesis at the University of California, Davis, was on terroir.
