Review: The 2010 vintage has notes of plum, black cherry, lavender and baking spices. It is a lush wine that is enjoyable now but will continue to improve with age. Merlot 63%, Cabernet Sauvignon 28%, Malbec 4%, Cabernet Franc 3%, Syrah 2% 2009 Vintage Tasting Notes 2009 Wine Spectator - 92 points - Supple, racy and multilayered, offering plum, currant, dark chocolate and mint flavors that come together smoothly and expressively on the long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink now through 2019. - H.S. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon 24% Merlot 6% Syrah 6% Cabernet Franc 4% Malbec from Lewis Estate, Double River Estate, Frenchtown Estate, Phinny Hill, and Double Canyon Vineyards. Released October 1, 2012. As elegant and balanced as the name “Trutina” (Latin word for “balance”) implies, our 2009 vintage offers a sweet cherry entry with light dusted cocoa, and a lengthy finish of dark fruit and soft tannins. Drink now, or through whenever your patience permits. - the winery
2008 Vintage 2008 Wine Spectator - 90 points - Lithe, polished and appealing for its seductive red berry and cream flavors on a polished texture, echoing on the restrained finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. Drink now through 2016. H.S. 2006 Vintage Tasting Notes Lush and soft with ripe mountain berries, sweet tobacco and a hint of allspice. Built to age, but very approachable now. Below, Dunham's Buckley Terrace Vineyard, 2001
2005 Vintage Wine Press NW rating "Excellent". Wine Press NW says: "Now a part of Dunham Cellars in Walla Walla, Trutina is a Bordeaux-style blend that shows "elegant, fruit-driven aromas and flavors. Beautifully balanced fruit, tannins and acidity." 2004 Vintage Ripe blackberry, new leather, wildflowers, and sweet violet in the nose lead to a rich yet structured plum and blackberry mouth, teamed with hints of black cherry and mint, riding over finely woven velvet tannins guided by viscous, rich fruit. Approachable now, but will improve for 8-10+ years." |
