"Smooth, round and generous, this positively glows with gorgeous plum, blackberry and floral spice aromas and flavors, echoing on the long, expressive finish. This just doesn't quit. Drink now through 2014.
From the winery: "Our 'Ceidleigh' Syrah (pronounced kay-Lee) is made entirely from Red Mountain grapes. Old and new world in a glass is what makes the Ceidleigh a distinctive wine deserving of its name, which means 'celebration' in Gaelic. The wine is inky with ripe plum and dried cherries balanced around a wonderful aroma of earth after a morning rain. It is lush and full, almost Rubenesque but with an elegant attack of fresh strawberries and orange zest finished with a note of licorice."
"It was a perfect day when Efeste visited the Barossa Valley. Syrah from 140 year old vines were being harvested in the vineyard right next to where we were sitting. Relaxing at a table in the gardens of a quaint restaurant we sipped on the vineyard's latest efforts and enjoyed grilled barramundi and lamb. Our server named 'Ceidleigh' was a charming red head whose name meant 'celebration' in Gaelic. Efeste felt compelled to name this wine after her, marking a moment when great food, wine, atmosphere and new friends come together to create one of those memorable days that we all treasure."
Seattle Magazine named Efeste's winemaker, Brennon Leighton a "Winemaker to Watch", saying:
"At 40, his skin covered with tattoos, Brennon Leighton of Efeste Wines looks more like an edgy artist than a winemaker. He discovered his passion for wine while working in fine dining restaurants, tasting and learning about the wines he was serving. At 26, he went back to school to study viticulture and enology at the University of California at Davis. Since then, he's made a name for himself as a winemaker at Chateau Ste. Michelle, where he was instrumental in creating the award-winning Eroica Riesling, among other white wines."
Seattle Magazine named Efeste its "Best New Winery" and said:
"Daniel Ferrelli, a second-generation Italian, had been making wine at home for years. In 2004, joined by his son-in-law Kevin Taylor and family friend Patrick Smith, he followed his passion and formed Efeste Wines (pronounced F-S-T, after the first letters of their last names). The trio made a few wise moves that helped them rise above many new wineries.
Firstly, they hired Chris Upchurch and Jay Soloff of DeLille Winery as consultants for their new project. Then, they hired Brennon Leighton as winemaker. They also focused their production on doing just a few wines well..."
