Review:

Aromas scream out of the glass; black plumb, cherries, and a wonderful touch of wet soil. Spice aromas of clove and possibly star anise make the wine easily approachable. The wine is smooth but the acid is extraordinary and focused. Final-Final is the last wine we blend, hence the name. - the winery

Our goal in blending two noble wine grapes together is to acquire the best attributes of each varietal and marry them in a complimentary and seamless way.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the foundation of this wine, adding power, structure, richness, grip, and complexity. Syrah brings generous, juicy, ripe flavors and a spicy nature that blends beautifully with the Cabernet. We have added a touch of Mouvedre this year to add a little spice to this dynamic blend.

Our minimalist approach to producing "Final-Final," using indigenous yeast during fermentation and not filtering or fining, adds to the "purity of fruit" that is the hallmark of Washington State grapes - you receive a wine that is both delicious and very complex.

Previous Vintage Tasting Notes

Wine Enthusiast 91 points - "Some high-toned floral highlights liven up the nose, and the sweet fruit shows blueberry and blackberry. Still stiff and tannic, it's edged with an earthy, herbal character highlighted with some sweet baking spices from the oak. Nice detail and good management of oak and tannins; this is a wine to study and savor."

Wine Advocate 90 points - "The 2006 Final-Final is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah mostly from Red Mountain fruit aged for 20 months in 65% new French oak. Purple-colored, it exhibits an enticing bouquet of cedar, spice box, black currant and blueberry. Broad on the palate with plenty of ripe, succulent fruit, it has outstanding depth, nicely concealed structure, and several years of cellaring potential. Efeste has come out of the gate strong and those interested should get on the mailing list for these very fairly priced wines."
