The Et Fille Pinot noir Maresh Vineyard 07 reveals the complexity and ethereal layering of Oregon Pinot noir at its most refined. Fresh red raspberry and currant aromas mingle with a hint of herbs. An initial impression of crisp red berry fruit flavors expands to offer sweet red cherry, hints of violets, spice, and anise. Layers of fruit, minerals, and truffles show in the long, balanced finish. A bit more structured than the Kalita or Willamette Valley 07, the Maresh 07 is an idea cellar candidate. If drinking immediately, decant for an hour or more. - Avalon
Et Fille's Pinot noir Maresh Vineyard 07 is made from the acclaimed fruit of one of Oregon's oldest and finest vineyards. Located in the heart of the Dundee Hlls, Maresh Vineyard has produced legendary Pinot Noir for more than thirty years. The vines, the oldest of which were planted in 1970 by Jim Maresh, are some of the best in the state.
Howard Mozeico describes the Et Fille 07 Maresh Vineyard: Big intoxicating nose of cherry liqueur, sage and smoke. Pie cherry and stone fruit on the palate. Long finish with Chablis - like minerality.
Jessica Mozeico adds her tasting notes: We have developed high expectations of Maresh Vineyard wines, and this is a worthy successor to our past vintages, with a leaner profile and longer finish. The garnet color leads you to a lovely nose accented by red fruit and a touch of blueberry. It reminds me of Cate Blanchett - always elegant and dignified in any situation.
Et Fille Pinot noir Kalita Vineyard 07 is enthralling, and our favorite Kalita to date. Imagine carrying a glass of your favorite Pinot noir while walking through a pristine old growth forest- that's what the 07 Kalita smells like. Ripe, bright berry fruit flavors mingle pleasingly with creamy, nutty tannins. The initial impression of sweet fruit leads to an intriguing savory element of wild mushroom. The Kalita 07 is unique and unforgettable. - Avalon
Howard Mozeico describes the wine: The 2007 is more smooth, mature and soft than prior Et Fille Kalita Vineyard Pinot noir vintages. The word that comes to mind every time is "pretty." Raspberry flavors that lead to cola. Best acidity of any Kalita. Nice finish with minerality. Pretty.
Jessica Mozeico describes the wine: This year's Kalita brings Clint Eastwood to mind... You see its boldness at first, but it reveals complex depth over time. The dark blackberry color leads to a multi-dimensional flavor profile. The front palate is dominated by bright red fruit, while a depth follows of chocolate and caramel.
Only three barrels of 2007 Palmer Creek Vineyard were made. Super-limited and super delicious. Et Fille has produced single vineyard Pinot Noir from the lovely Palmer Creek Vineyard in the Eola - Amity Hills of Oregon since their first vintage. The vineyard is meticulously tended by owners Janet and Larry Richards.
Howard Mozeico describes the wine: Big nose of raspberry, graham cracker and vanilla aromas, complex plum and cherry flavors carry into a long finish.
Jessica Mozeico adds her tasting notes: People always ask which of our wines I like best, and I will answer no sooner than you would name your favorite child. However, I must say that this is my favorite Palmer Creek yet. It is elegant in the aroma of plum and floral notes and palate of sweet cherries, cinnamon, and spice. It seems I like things of which I can only have a few... Ferragamo handbags and now Palmer Creek. We did a small production to focus on quality in 2007.
The Et Fille Willamette Valley Pinot noir 07's scent is evocative of fresh Oregon Marionberries and black raspberries, accented by hints of dusty spice and dried rose petal. This is a gently textured wine - rounded and smooth. Sweet fruit and well defined dark berry flavors evolve and open with the addition of a touch of earth and dried herbs in the mid-palate. Outstanding complexity and balance in a value Pinot noir. - Avalon
The Et Fille Willamette Valley Pinot noir, their one blended Pinot (all others are single vineyard designates), has garnered a reputation for its exceptional value and sells out quickly. The wine is made with the same careful hand crafting as Et Fille's single vineyard wines. The 2007 is a blend of Pinot Noir grapes from the Blakeslee, Nicholas, Kalita and Palmer Creek vineyards.
Howard Mozeico describes the 2007 Et Fille Willamette Valley Pinot noir: Cherry liqueur and herbal aroma, cherry and rhubarb flavor.
Jessica Mozeico adds her notes: Our Willamette Valley blend is like that perfect little black dress- you know, without thinking about it, that it will complement any occasion. It is quickly becoming a consistent standby in our homes. We are allured by the clarity of its ruby color, nose of raspberry and cherry with a touch of eucalyptus or herb, and flavor profile of cherry with cola and oak on the back palate.
The Et Fille Willamette Valley Pinot noir 07 is extremely limited and is only available as part of the 2007 Et Fille Sampler Case.
