Review: Oregon winery Et Fille's second vintage of this wine, appropriately reflecting the hereditary multi-generational nature of this father/daughter partnership. It's a reserve blend of the best barrels from the different vineyards' wines they produce each year. 2010 Vintage Tasting Notes This is one of the best textured 2010 Pinots I've tasted, just pure, rounded silkiness. You'll be captivated by the pretty red fruit aromas and seduced by the mouthfeel. Supple, bright and dark cherry notes take on subtle spice towards the finish, adding a ribbon of dark currant. This is a great choice for drinking now, which makes it my kind of Pinot. - Marcus Jessica Mozeico describes the wine: ..."using the favorite barrels from each vintage... allows us a ton of latitude as there are no constraints and we can pick whatever barrels from whichever vineyards came out the best that year and combine well. With the vintage variation that the Valley has had over the past few years, flexibility is key. It's also a ton of fun- we spend about 2-3 weeks on the blending trials of Heredity alone. Our goal is to focus on aroma and mouth feel, but it will vary in character/ flavor profile to be true to each vintage." below, August Cellars, where the Et Fille wines are made
From Pinotfile: The Et Fille Hereditary reserve blend is made from four Willamette Valley vineyards. Aged 10 months in 25% new French oak. Moderate reddish purple color in the glass. Aromas of black raspberries, black cherries, strawberries and oak. Soft and smooth and moderately rich, with shy fruit expression, offering a citrus-peel and oak imbued finish. Tasted 30 minutes later, the oak had become more integrated and the fruit had moved more to the forefront. Needs decanting or time. Good (+). - Rusty Gaffney, Pinotfile below, Maresh Vineyard, one of the vineyards from which Et Fille sources grapes
