Evening Land Blue Label Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2010
Los Angeles Times Pick of the Week!
It's easy to detect the hand of consulting winemaker Dominique Lafon in this lush Pinot from Evening Land vineyard in Oregon's Willamette Valley. The 2010's ripe fruit, silken texture and underlying minerality channel a Burgundian elegance. Evening Land's Pinot is a terrific food wine — perfect with the holiday turkey or roast beef, with comforting stews and braised dishes.
A wonderful buy for the quality. - L.A. Times
An outstanding value from Oregon's hottest new winery!
Previous vintage notes: The Evening Land Blue Label Pinot noir is made entirely from the winery's Seven Springs Vineyard fruit. Round, supple, ready to drink, the 2009 shows the vintage's big, juicy character without losing structure. Tannins are silky and well integrated, framing the dark, plush plum, black berry, and cherry fruit flavors. A lilt of fresh fruit acidity adds freshness.

While the purchase of Seven Springs Vineyard by "outsiders" several years ago was controversial at the time, the extensive renovation and replanting clearly shows in the string of high profile, highly rated wines from Evening Land. Wine Spectator's Harvey Steiman recently gave the la Source Pinot noir 08 96 points, the highest score he's ever given an Oregon Pinor noir.
High profile consulting winemaker Dominique LaFon, rising star winemaker Isabelle Meunier, and new hire Larry Stone (Rubicon) as President and General Manager, give this winery an all-star cast of characters befitting its founder, Mark Tarlov's, success in Hollywood.

LA Times Wine of the Week 2-11-10 - "Consulting French winemaker Dominique Lafon has imbued this Oregon Pinot Noir with an elegant Burgundian character. Medium-bodied, with a silky texture and finespun finish, the 2008 Evening Land Vineyards Pinot tastes of black cherries and wild plums. A lithe acidity and undertone of minerality give this vintage definition. A beautiful expression of Pinot Noir, and at this price, it is a stunning buy." - S. Irene Virbila
70% Seven Springs, with contributions from well-known Oregon vineyards. Dominique Lafon, Consulting Winemaker to Evening Land Vineyards, visited "friends" in the Willamette Valley and snapped up stellar contributions to the Estate fruit. He designed it as "por ma guile" - for my gullet.
