Review:

With the slightly larger than normal yields from 2011 we were able to eke out a whopping barrel and a half from our quarter acre of Chardonnay at Le Puits Sec. It was barrel fermented in neutral oak for 18 months contributing a creamy texture balanced with bright acid and displaying mineral, sea air, honey suckle and orange blossom. 36 cases bottled. - the winery

2010 Vintage Tasting Notes

Bright acid, mineral and creaminess with a long finish. Only one barrel this year for a total of 25 cases.

2009 Vintage Tasting Notes

Lemon, fresh herbs, pear and braeburn apple with mouthwatering, lemony acidity and a nuttiness that develops through the finish. The Le Puits Sec vineyard consistently produces excellent Chardonnay grapes. Only 2 barrels were made in 2009, a whopping 45 cases.

2008 Vintage Tasting Notes

Russ describes the wine: "We were somewhat surprised by the depth and richness we attained in the cool 2007 vintage, something we attribute to a small crop which allowed optimal ripeness. This bottling is an even blend of Dijon clones 76 & 96 (with a smaller amount of clone 95). It is barrel fermented in French oak (20% new) with frequent lees-stirring, aged for 18 months, and bottled without filtration. As our vines have matured, this bottling has become increasingly consistent in its “terroir” flavors of subtle vanilla, minerals and grilled nuts. As is typical of our style, this wine has a creamy texture, yet a crisp acidity in an elegant medium-bodied frame. 24 cases produced."
