Review:
The more Pinot I taste from the Illahe vineyard the more I like this site. Hints of white pepper, strawberry, and truffle oil. A Pinot noir that will age exceptionally well. - Andy
According to winemaker Erin Nuccio, "the Illahe is the ripest of the single vineyard wines. It's fruitier, has the least acid but is still very balanced."
2009 Vintage Tasting Notes
A darker expression of Evesham Wood Pinot. Fresh blackberry with red cherry flourishes. Orange-spiced tea and cola highlight a creamy textured palate. The smallest production Evesham Pinot -
nly 90 cases produced. - Marcus
Tasting the four new Pinot releases from Evesham - the Le Puits Sec, Illahe Vineyard, Temperance Hill, and Cuvee "J" - it's remarkable how different they are - the Temerance and Illahe are very close to each other and are quite different. The Cuvee "J" and Le Puits Sec are from the Evesham estate vineyard "Le Puits Sec Vineyard" and also show both similarities and delightful differences. All are clearly related yet demonstrate the ephemeral qualities of Pinot noir we love. - Jean
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Evesham's smallest production single vineyard Pinot, less than 90 cases made.
Sporting a nose that is very Oregon, filled with essence of Douglas fir and wild berries. There is a bit more of an oak note - this makes sense because of the 4 barrels made, 2 were new - and it integrates nicely with the fresh, almost edgy nature of this Pinot. The 08 Illahe is a candidate for mid-term cellaring though it shows a softness and elegance that make it pretty darn good right now. - Marcus
