Evesham Wood Eola Cuvee Pinot noir is Russ's declassified single-vineyard blend, using the single vineyard wine he made that did not fit into the flavor profile he had decided on for his single vineyard bottlings. The Eola Cuv?e for 2003 is blended from barrels of Temperance Hill, Anden and Le Puits Sec Estate vineyards wine.

A saturated dark ruby color and a rich sense of deep black cherry and boysenberry fruit dominate one's first impressions of this wine. Russ has successfully balanced the ripeness of the warm growing season with elegant structure and a complex smokiness from a sojourn in French oak. On the palate, the Eola Cuv?e shows the ripeness and richness of the vintage. Hints of vanilla, caramel and black currants emerge on the long finish. Enjoy now with lamb, duck or grilled steaks or better yet lay this down for a year or three and let the fruit meld into the structure.
There are a number of excellent under $20 Oregon Pinot noirs available now (Jezebel 02, PGC Oregon 02, Ponzi Tavola 02, Brooks Runaway Red 02, A to Z 02, etc) yet this wine stands out from the pack. Highly recommended.
