Evesham Wood Pinot noir Willamette Valley 08
Evesham Wood Pinot noir Willamette Valley 08 - Swirling the Evesham Wood Willamette Valley Pinot noir 08 in the glass and taking a first big breath - cedar, red raspberry, nutmeg, slippery elm, and a hint of lavender arise. Subsequent inhales add rose petal, incense, and herbs to the mix.
A first sip boasts juicy red raspberry and red cherry flavors. Savoring the experience, sweet nutmeg, cinnamon, white pepper, licorice, and cranberry emerge. At the edge of perception, wisps of lavender fields, tiny wild roses, moss, and earth add threads of flavor to the wine fabric's weft. White pepper and cedar persist in the finish. - Jean

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes
Mind-bogglingly good for the price. The 2007 Evesham Wood Willamette Valley Pinot noir has rich aromas of red fruit with cinnamon and rose flecks. Sun-ripened raspberries gush on your palate, balanced by pie cherries and cranberries. Perfectly balanced for 3-5 years of cellaring, but very tasty right now!
Undeniably one of Oregon's classic Pinot noir producers, Evesham Wood delivers exquisite complexity and flavor. And the prices are humbling. One of the best under $20 Pinot noirs anywhere. Russ Raney is one of Oregon's treasures, making finely crafted, Burgundian styled Pinots year after year.

2005 Vintage Tasting Notes
This rendition of our Willamette Valley bottling is a slight departure from recent bottlings, in that a substantial portion of the fruit (ca. 40%) now derives from Ford Vineyard, an excellent young vineyard just
NE and slightly downhill from Freedom Hill Vineyard in the foothills of the Coast Range. The wine does share with past vintages though a pronounced black cherry fruit and considerable viscosity. It has the firmness and concentration of the 2004 vintage yet with a "jammy"
quality and a surprisingly bright fruit acid. Theh other sources of fruit for this year's blend are Mahonia Vineyard (35%) and Eola Springs Vineyard (25%). After fermentation, the wine was aged in ca. 80% older French oak barrels and 20% in stainless steel tank. It was racked
gently off the sediment twice for clarity prior to bottling in August 2005 and was not filtered.- the winery
