For Fans of Evesham Wood
The Evesham Wood Wine Tasting Sampler Contains: 1 bottle Evesham Wood Opens with a nose of classic Burgundian Jayer - compelling and complex, multi-layered and detailed. An amazing swirl of tension between elegant fruit and fresh turned earth and herbs. Made from the best six barrels of Pinot from the vintage, a scant 120 cases. - Jean For years, Cuvee "J" has been one of those truly cult wines - a must-have passionate Oregon Pinot noir collectors. It is released and sells out in a few days. Part of the foundation of my cellar, I've been collecting it since 1996. Cuvee "J" usually needs cellaring - it's subtle, refined, mysterious, ever changing, and unforgettable. - Jean Cuvée J continues to be a 6 barrel selection exclusively from Le Puits Sec Vineyard. Somewhat in contrast to many 2009's the Cuvée J is quite tight and restrained at first, opening up on day 2 with plum and violet notes dominating. It was barreled in 40% new French oak, contributing a spicy character. Time in bottle is needed for the wine to fully develop. - Erin 1 bottle Evesham Wood Crush inspiring. I'm saying this as one wino to another: you need this Pinot. Fresh black cherry and raspberry, with a dusting of Christmas spice towards the back of your palate. The heart-melting interplay of sweet fruit, juicy acidity, a savory-resin awesomeness and classic Le Puits Sec dried herbs whisks you away. I can talk about a food match (duck confit, anyone?) but this is comfort food in a glass. - Marcus
1 bottle Evesham Wood A light nose of raspberry and field herbs opens to big up front fresh raspberry with a hint of fresh earth and forest floor. The opposite of the Puit Sec, with a focus on upfront fruit, an intense expression of terroir, and a field-driven finish. - Jean Tasting the four new Pinot releases from Evesham - the Le Puits Sec, Illahe Vineyard, Temperance Hill, and Cuvee "J" - it's remarkable how different they are - the Temperance and Illahe are very close to each other and are quite different. The Cuvee "J" and Le Puits Sec are from the Evesham estate vineyard "Le Puits Sec Vineyard" and also show both similarities and delightful differences. All are clearly related yet demonstrate the ephemeral qualities of Pinot noir we love. - Jean
1 bottle Evesham Wood Red raspberry, bramble, and a hint of white pepper in both scent and flavors, this is Erin's most elegant 2009 Pinot. At first, it is deceptively simple, then it opens and just keeps going. The complexity is in the subtle notes - minerals, herbs, earth, field grass. The most transparent of his Pinots, with ethereal layers of flavor. - Jean Temperance Hill Vineyard has had a long history with Evesham Wood. From 1989 until 2001 Cuvée J was comprised at least in part of Temperance Hill. It's a special vineyard with a distinctive character. This bottling showcases classic Temperance Hill notes of cedar, dried herbs and spice. With a nod to the past we have used the original "Tudor rose" label for this bottling. - Erin
