Fausse Piste Pour L'Amour de Dieu Syrah 08 - A blend of two unique vineyards, Aramanth Ridge Vineyard in the beautiful Umpqua Valley in Oregon and Outlook Vineyard, located in the Yakima Valley in Washington.
Amaranth Vineyard - Located in the Umpqua Valley AVA this unique site is nestled in the west end of the Cascade foothills at 680 feet above sea level. Constant breezes from the west, slightly warmer days than the Willamette Valley but cooler nights due to elevation provide an unique site for a very different showing of Syrah than vineyards in the north.
"My first Syrah release consists of fruit that was hand picked, sorted, fermented in small lots using delicate manual punchdowns then lightly pressed into second use french oak from small coopers where it rested for 11 months." - the winery
The label comes from a series of llustrations from Edgar Allen Poe's "Tales of Mystery and Imagination". The Cask of Amontillado is a dark story that has haunted me for years, and Harry Clarke's illustrations in the book provide a vivid picture of Montresor's revenge on Fortunato.
