2008 Wine Spectator - 94 points - Supple, generous and relatively light on its feet, dancing with red berry, watermelon and rhubarb flavors, remaining ripe and focused through the long, deftly balanced finish. 2008 Wine Advocate - 93 points - The 2008 Red Mountain Red Wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot sourced from the Red Mountain Vineyard and aged for 24 months in 50% new French and American oak. Balsam wood, cinnamon, cardamom, violets, incense, cassis, and black currant aromas lead to a loaded, dense, rich, structured wine with 4-5 years of aging potential. This burly, lengthy effort should see its 20th birthday in peak form. - Jay Miller

2007 Wine Advocate - 92+ points - The 2007 Red Mountain Red Wine is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 13% Cabernet Franc aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak. Medium purple in color, it displays a nose of pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied on the palate it has layered fruit, a plush palate feel, plenty of ripe tannin, savory flavors, and 5-7 years of aging potential. This backstrapping offering has a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2032.
