Fidelitas Red Mountain Red 08

Review:

2008 Wine Spectator - 94 points - Supple, generous and relatively light on its feet, dancing with red berry, watermelon and rhubarb flavors, remaining ripe and focused through the long, deftly balanced finish. This has wonderful intensity and grace. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2018. 241 cases made. - H.S.

2008 Wine Advocate - 93 points - The 2008 Red Mountain Red Wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot sourced from the Red Mountain Vineyard and aged for 24 months in 50% new French and American oak. Balsam wood, cinnamon, cardamom, violets, incense, cassis, and black currant aromas lead to a loaded, dense, rich, structured wine with 4-5 years of aging potential. This burly, lengthy effort should see its 20th birthday in peak form. - Jay Miller

2007 Vintage Tasting Notes

2007 Wine Advocate - 92+ points - The 2007 Red Mountain Red Wine is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 13% Cabernet Franc aged for 24 months in 50% new French oak. Medium purple in color, it displays a nose of pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, black currant, and blackberry. Full-bodied on the palate it has layered fruit, a plush palate feel, plenty of ripe tannin, savory flavors, and 5-7 years of aging potential. This backstrapping offering has a drinking window extending from 2015 to 2032.
