Review:
Concentrated mocha, vanilla and blueberry aromas along with a very deep purple hue, a hint of oak and a lingering finish. Rich, sumptuous bright cherry and blueberry aromas and flavors, enhanced with nuances of mocha and vanillin oak, a lush, full palate, soft tannins and lingering finish. From Big Fluke Wine Company, based in Seattle, Washington, a value-priced Washington State Merlot.
The Flying Fish winemaking team selected small parcels of fruit from several vineyards throughout the Columbia Valley. This region has tremendous differences in microclimate and offers an incredible palette from which to select grapes for the final blend. By taking advantage of these differences the team was able to achieve concentrated mocha, vanilla and blueberry aromas along with a very deep purple hue.
Committed to giving back to the community and protecting the environment as part of everyday business, Big Fluke partnered with The Ocean Conservancy and pledged a portion of the proceeds from Flying Fish. Owner Peter Click says: "An important part of making great wine is being able to give back to the community in a meaningful way. We are pleased to do our part to help protect wild healthy oceans."
