Flying Fish Riesling 2010
Flying Fish Riesling is new to the Flying Fish lineup. Fresh floral aromas with ripe peach and apricot flavors. Aromas of cotton candy, apricots, lemon peel, peaches, tangerines and baby aspirin. Not as bright as the others, but with more weight on the tongue, this wine had nice flavors of apples with the acidity and fruit in balance. Tasters thought this wine reminded them of apple cider - with a punch.
Three vineyards contribute the fruit for the Flying Fish Riesling, all located in Washington State. Milbrandt's Evergreen Vineyard in the Columbia Valley tends to be a cooler site. It contributes bright peach and apricot flavors and adds spice and crispness. The other two vineyards are located in the Wahluke Slope, a hotter area. The grapes produced by those vineyards add acidity and seamlessly integrated floral notes. The winemaker is Gordon Hill.
Primarily intended to be sold to restaurants as a "House Pour", this excellent value wine can be your personal "House Wine". Good value.
