Review:
2008 Vintage Tasting Notes
Originally featured by Avalon in August 2010, Forefront Pinot noir comes from Pine Ridge Winery, parent company of Archery Summit.
We featured this wine (and sold the heck out of it) almost a year ago, and there's still some left. Gossip is that it's excess fruit from Arcus Vineyard. Woo Woo - that's one heck of a vineyard.
Forefront Pinot noir was made in tribute to Gary Andrus, the charismatic founder of Archery Summit and one of Oregon's most influential winemakers. Gary introduced Oregon to an over-the-top, intense, "big" Pinot noir style. The Forefront Pinot noir 08 is an outrageous steal.
Archery Summit (owned by Pine Ridge) is located in Oregon's Dundee Hills. Forefront from Pine Ridge Pinot noir 08 contains a big chunk of Dundee Hills fruit.
The best value "bigger-style" Oregon 2008 Pinot I've tasted, with all of the exquisite balance of 2008. This stuff rocks for its explosive aromas and lush palate of Marionberries and black cherries, wrapped up with a bow of licorice and complementary oak. Put more plainly, this drinks like a $40+ Pinot. Forefront makes a huge impression on you, much like Gary Andrus did with his wines. - Marcus

Founder, Gary Andrus
Opening with lifted aromas of marionberry, black raspberry and star anise, this wine
immediately seduces the palate with an abundance of sweet cherry, raspberry and
pomegranate flavors. Racy acidity balances the round, generous fruit for an elegant
and alluring wine. - the winery
